“Pranati: A Journey of Aspirations and Ambition”

3 min readFeb 27, 2025

Pranati Nayak, a bright and determined young girl from Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, is redefining the boundaries of possibility. Born into humble beginnings and having lost her sight at an early age, she has never let adversity stand in the way of her dreams. Currently studying in Standard 9 at the Louis Braille School for the Blind, Pranati aspires to become a Civil Officer and contribute to the development of society.

Her passion for learning is evident in her love for Science and Mathematics — subjects that she approaches with enthusiasm and curiosity. Despite her visual impairment, Pranati has excelled academically and actively participated in various state and national-level competitions, proving that determination and perseverance know no limits.

A Step Towards Digital Inclusion

In 2024, Pranati’s learning experience took a transformative turn. Thanks to the generous support from Kirttan Behera and the Promise a Future initiative, the Louis Braille School was equipped with tablets as a powerful tool for learning. This initiative aimed to bridge the accessibility gap by introducing technology tailored to the needs of visually impaired students.

The tablets were equipped with TalkBack and Voice-to-Read technology, enabling students like Pranati to listen to lessons developed by Aveti Learning. This innovation has provided her and her peers with a new, interactive way of engaging with educational content.

Technology as an Enabler

For visually impaired students, traditional learning methods can often be challenging. With the introduction of these tablets, learning has become more accessible and engaging.

Pranati expresses her excitement about this new mode of learning:

“Earlier, I had to depend entirely on Braille books and assistance from others. But now, with the tablet, I can listen to lessons anytime, anywhere. It gives me independence in my studies, and I am more confident than ever.”

Aveti Learning has played a crucial role in making this initiative successful. The educational content provided through the tablets has been designed to cater to the needs of visually impaired students, ensuring that they receive quality learning experiences despite the challenges they face.

Guidance and Mentorship

Beyond just providing the technology, Aveti Learning has also ensured that students receive the necessary guidance to use these tools effectively. Monalisha, a dedicated member of Aveti, visits the Louis Braille School on weekends to assist students in navigating their digital learning resources.

Monalisha shares her experience:

“It’s truly inspiring to see how eager and quick these students are to adapt to technology. Pranati, in particular, is exceptionally bright. She picks up new concepts swiftly and uses the tablet seamlessly to enhance her understanding of subjects.”

Her guidance has been instrumental in helping students gain confidence in using the technology, ensuring they make the most out of the resources available to them.

A Brighter Future Ahead

Pranati’s journey is a testament to the power of education and technology in transforming lives. With the right tools and support, she is not just overcoming barriers but also setting an example for many others like her. Her determination to become a Civil Officer is fueled by her belief that education should be accessible to all, regardless of their physical challenges.

As she continues to excel in her studies with the aid of digital learning, her story serves as an inspiration to many. She reminds us that a small step toward inclusion can open doors to limitless opportunities.

Pranati sums up her journey beautifully:

“Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. With technology by my side, I am more determined than ever to achieve my dreams and help others along the way.”

Through initiatives like these, the vision of an inclusive educational system is becoming a reality — one where every student, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. And for Pranati, the sky is the limit.
